GUC Engineering 2012-2013 Newcomers Advice's

1) The first year is the most important year , you will be studying few number of courses each semester and each course will have large number of credit hours like mathematics which weighs 8 credit hours , so You need to score a high grade in the first year and believe me when I say that the first year is the easiest so if you got a A or A+ in your first year rest assured that this will help you during your next 4 years plus if you adjusted yourself to a studying style that guarantees to you a good grade you will stick to this style for the next years in college as you will be adapted to it.

2) If you are the kind of person who studies only 2 weeks before exams , this will NOT work at the GUC and will cause you sometimes to fail some courses if you are not usually a studying person type so in order to avoid this , Please study week by week and finish what you have first , sometimes you will have deadlines that will make you postpone studying for some time and this is normal at the GUC , the idea is that you MUST NOT leave yourself not studying as ALWAYS at the GUC at the end of the semester you have many deadlines for assignments and projects and you will be already overloaded so don't put another overload on you by not studying during the semester.

3) Always Attend the lectures and tutorials , when you ask any Gucian about attending the lectures most of them will tell you skip it and get the information from a clever student or stick with the TA (Teaching assistant) and he will explain to you , They are Wrong because the idea is not just getting good grades and getting a certificate ; the idea of College is to learn so always put this in-front of you . The lecture is always important even if you only understand 20% of it, rest assured that this small percentage will help you better understand the topic when you enter the tutorial or when you study alone ; also many professors say important concepts in the lecture that will take you hours to understand and if you got it right will make the rest of the topic a piece of cake.

The professor is someone who has more knowledge and information that the TA , maybe sometime the TA explains better that the professor but rest assured that the professor will give you in the lecture information that TA himself also studies it before giving it to you.

4) Try to find an activity beside studying , for example a club activity at college . Don't limit your self only to studying or believe me you will crack down and will be bored and some of you will skip studying cause he made it his life . I say these words especially to the people who study a lot and are considered to be very clever at school , just try to find something to blow some steam in it or if you don't like activities out a day during the week where you will take rest to empty your mind a little

Yes studying and knowledge is important but a good engineer is a person who can actually have activities beside his studies and if you don't like social activities look for technical activities where you can actually practice your engineering in it or know new stuff.

5) Some will ask me should we study from books or lecture notes and how do we study at the GUC ..... well that question depend on both the course and the professor , in your first year in mathematics and physics the books are really important and this will be told to you during your first lectures so always in any course ask the professor what content should you stick to . O fcourse books always offer more knowledge if you want to know more about a certain topic.

6) If you have a friend at the GUC and you ask him about the studying system he will tell you it is really hard and sometimes some will tell you don't enter.

I will be really truthful in this point , Yes the GUC studying system is hard and sometimes will make you want to blow your self up , but this system has actually a benefit , I didn't realize till the end of my studies. STRESS AND TIME MANAGEMENT.  these two skills some people pay lots of money to learn , the GUC system makes you always overloaded with assignments Quizzes and projects that you find no room to breathe but after your first year you will actually be capable to adjust to any stressful system you are out in . you will have the experience of dealing with tight deadlines and multitasking . Talents you will learn naturally due to the nature of studying system.

Finally , I would like to welcome you all to the GUC Engineering Family and I wish you all Success in your studies and careers and always be sure that you choose the best engineering university in EGYPT and that's True. The GUC is the  BEST ENGINEERING University in Egypt . I hope my advises were helpful .

GUC Faculty of Engineering Alumni

Have you ever wondered as a GUC engineering student where did all the graduated classes of engineering do after graduation ??!! did they work abroad or here in Egypt? did they pursue an academic career? was it at the GUC or at another university ? , or did they work at a multinational company ?? what are the chances out there for a GUC engineering graduate? what are the courses we should take to enhance our capabilities??!!!! All these questions start in your head the moment you step into the university and apply for the Engineering Faculty. let's not be kidding ourselves , many people just don't care about anything but the fact that they can actually find a job after they graduate . This year I created a group called GUC newcomers winter 2013 for the GUC newcomers to gather and ask all the questions they need to know about the university and you know what was the most repeated question I heard or received via messages or on the group wall?! ; what are my working chances aft...

Hazem Salah Abu Ismael

Little over a year now did Hazem Salah Abu Ismael , an Egyptian lawyer who decided that he should put himself in the race for the presidency after the revolution of 25th of January and the Removal of the Tyrant Mubarak and his Regime or the so Called Removal of Mubarak Tyrant Regime which still controls many aspects of this countries resources and plan incidents like the port-said massacre and the Diesel and Fuel Shortage problem that has be increasing for two months now. Marriage , Divorce and Career Personality

Many woman nowadays prefer to have a career rather than to have a family and many of the woman who have a family regret not pushing in their career hard enough and regret becoming a house wife and not becoming a working wife. Never the less the big question always puts itself , can women do both with a good and fair share for every part? can a woman be able to work in a standard Egyptian environment of work and at the same time be able to have a family and care for that family including children and not missing the important stuff in her children life like their first words the first time they walk their sports events, their happy moments and sad moments and being able to tell what they like and hate and what they want without saying and to feel their need when they look at her ... All this can it actually be done for a career thriving woman???  Many men believe that the woman's place is home and not work and this is her sacred duty to raise the children to be a healthy good ...
