How to manage your time in college effectively??? (Part 1)

How to manage your time effectively in life is an important question that many people ask themselves , “ How can I manage my time “ but life is too big of a subject for this article so I am going to to answer a smaller version of this question of how to manage to your time effectively in college.

Many university students have problems in managing their time effectively so that they can study , workout , hangout with friends on weekends and at the same time have a social activity in which they can participate because after all these activities are as much important as study that they participate shape your personality with a great deal.

To answer such a question we need first to ask ourselves what do we usually spend our time doing. Nowadays in 2013, more than 2-4 hours a day are lost on Facebook and Twitter and other social media with nonsense to do ; and don’t get me wrong , these social networks are really important and serve many purposes in our professional and personal life since we are connected to it. But still 2-4 hours a day is too much , so you need to reduce the number of hours spent on these social networks by doing something more constructive and that doesn’t just mean studying . You can actually start to take half the time you spend on Facebook and start reading books , and many of you actually don’t believe that but books make your mind function much better. The idea is that you read about something like “The power of Speaking “ or “48 laws of power” or “The fine art of small talk “ and you start thinking what if I used the talents in these books to enhance my personality , then your mind will be active much more when you are just sitting of Facebook chatting.

Also in Egypt specially , the youth usually spend their time sitting in a cafe (called qahwa in arabic) and smoking Shisha and playing card games endlessly and living in a world of fantasy of not doing anything in their life until the exams bells ring and they decide that they should study and be more active. Lots of hours are wasted just sitting in a cafe hanging out with your friends. You can use half this time to workout or participate in a social active group at college or even outside it so that you get to interact with people in a different way that may change your view of the world.

What is more important , your future or the future of your country?

A rhetorical question is being asked nowadays is whether your future is more important or your country's future. When you decide to leave your country and you see that there is no other way to build your future other than building it outside in order to gain experience and have a great CV that will allow you to get a job that will actually bring you real money so that you can start your own future. Some decide to stay in their country to build it and they sacrifice their future and the profits they can gain with their skills, but the fact remains that if your country's people actually decided that they will not change their habits of getting a job by knowing someone or being the son of someone important and that nothing is done if you don't open your mind and pay for every free governmental and non-governmental service you get at your country The problem is not in the government and it is not in a certain party the problem is in the way Egyptians think and behave, and

Have you ever wondered as a GUC engineering student where did all the graduated classes of engineering do after graduation ??!! did they work abroad or here in Egypt? did they pursue an academic career? was it at the GUC or at another university ? , or did they work at a multinational company ?? what are the chances out there for a GUC engineering graduate? what are the courses we should take to enhance our capabilities??!!!! All these questions start in your head the moment you step into the university and apply for the Engineering Faculty. let's not be kidding ourselves , many people just don't care about anything but the fact that they can actually find a job after they graduate .
